Bait and switch at dinner?

A male friend asked me to a movie and dinner last night. I live on the other side of town. I drove to his house and when I got there, he suggested we take my car. I hadn't expected to use my car - and needed gas. So he ended up driving. Then at dinner, he suggests we go 50/50. I buy dinner and he pays for the movie. So I agree (because I really had little choice) even though I couldn't afford. He orders an appetizer and then an entre ($35.00 for dinner). If I had known that the evening was going to cost me that much - I would have ped. To me this kind of "surprise"and lack of consideration is not what I see in a friend. I'm thinking of letting this frienship go...what do you think?
